CHOIR CONCERT 2024
Brackenfell Primary’s annual choir concert was held on Tuesday, the 28th of May in the school hall.
The choirs who participated included Brackenfell Primary’s Junior- and Senior choir, Bastion Primary’s Junior- and Senior choir, Bellville-Noord Primary’s Senior choir and Vredekloof Primary’s Junior choir.
Each choir sang two songs whereafter the evening was concluded on a high note when all the choirs sang “Let the river run” by Carly E. Simon, as a mass choir item.
They were given a standing ovation by the audience and therefore were requested to sing it once more.
It was a beautiful evening of singing and creating an opportunity for the choirs to enjoy listening to one another and experiencing singing together.
We would like to thank all of the parents who came and supported the choirs as well as all the choir conductors and teachers who organised the event.

SENIOR CHOIR
Our grade 4 to 7 learners are accepted into the senior choir after taking a voice test. The senior choir takes part in the eisteddfod, school events and other competitions.
JUNIOR CHOIR
The junior choir group consists of grade 1, 2 and 3 learners and performs at the annual choir festival, cultural concerts and other events at the school.

MUSIC LESSONS
We offer the coaching of piano, keyboard, recorder, transverse flute, singing and guitar at the school. Most of these lessons take place during school hours. There are exceptions where lessons are scheduled before school or after school hours.
Our learners are then offered the opportunity to perform during the annual music evening and participate in eisteddfod depending on the level at which the learner has mastered the instrument.

DRAMA CLUB
Junior group: After completing an audition process, a group of 3rd grade learners is identified and coached once a week during a drama session in terms of various drama components. They are entered for eisteddfod competitions as well as mini productions. Senior group: This group consists of grade 4 to 7 learners. Everyone who is interested undergoes an audition process and a group is selected.
The speech mechanism, drama techniques among others characterization, improvisation, imagination skills, body posture, group work, stage techniques, use of costume and props, puppetry and so on are in which our learners are coached. There are events throughout the year where the group performs. Every year there is a mini Easter production, dramatized speaking choir piece or scene that is presented.

EISTEDDFOD
Every year, the 1st to 7th grade learners are entered in respective categories and the teaching forces train the learners for this competition.
These learners also gain recognition at the prestige at the end of the year if highest praise has been achieved.
Every year around 200 learners from our school participate..

PUBLIC SPEAKING
This is a specialized section and requires commitment from our learners as well as their parents.
We have grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 learners who are coached and participate in competitions.
So far we have had learners who have represented the school at national level in competitions and are very proud of this activity in our school.
Mr. Sias Jansen van Vuuren is the trainer and organizer and if you want to find out more about this specialist area, you are welcome to contact him on: 079 617 8583
